Kathmandu. There have been speculations regarding the appointment of ministers for the vacant ministerial posts in the government for some time. It has been disclosed, however, that the chair duo of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have decided upon the name of general secretary Bishnu Paudel as the finance minister long time ago.
News source close to PM KP Sharma Oli informed that immediately after the resignation of Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada as the finance minister, the chair duo Oli and Prachanda had consented to chose party general secretary Paudel for the post. They had bypassed the names of Surendra Pandey and Barsaman Pun for the post as suggested by PM Oli.
Bishnu Paudel. being the party general secretary and a close confidante of both chairs, could play a coordinating role more effectively than other competitors, in the opinion of PM Oli. Having the experience of the Ministry of Finance was a cherry on the top for Paudel. Prachanda had agreed to Oli’s logic.
PM Oli wants to appoint the ministers and make the Cabinet complete before Dashain. The two chairmen have been discussing regularly on the appointment of ministers before Dashain and reshuffling the government after Dashain.
“It is not possible for the prime minister to look after the vacant ministries for a long time. Hence, the PM might appoint the ministers any time as soon as the two chairs come to an understanding for the names, “source claims.
Though the chair duo have agreed to hand over the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance to Paudel, they have not yet concluded who to appoint for the Ministry of Communications and Urban Development.
