Kathmandu. Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has demanded apology from Dr Baburam Bhattarai after he accused the incumbent prime minister and two former prime ministers of having misappropriated and shared nine billion rupees of the Budhigandaki Hydroelectricity Project among themselves. Bhattarai also told that he had proofs to substantiate his claims.

Former Prime Minister Bhattarai had made a public statement about Prime Minister and NCP Chair KP Sharma Oli and NCP Executive Chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ along with Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba having misused the fund.

NCP spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha released a statement on Wednesday and made the party’s view on Bhattarai’s accusation public. NCP has asked for an apology from Dr Bhattarai.

Dr Bhattarai has responded to the NCP statement via twitter. He  has suggested to  form a ‘citizen ombudsman committee’ having the authority of investigating and penalizing the wrongdoers and probe into Budhigandaki, Ncell, NAC wide body, security printing, Omni and other corruption cases. He has also asked for investigation into the wealth and earnings of high profile politicians and officials and told that he would accept the punishment if found guilty himself.

Dr Bhattarai has not been able to provide the proofs against the people he had accused of corruption though he has mentioned it time and again.
