Four complaints against ambassadors designate Dr Khatiwada and Regmi

Kathmandu. Four complaints have been registered against the ambassadorial nominees to the United States of America and  the United Kingdom at the Parliamentary Hearing Committee  There are three complaints against Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada, the immediate past finance minister of the country, nominated as Nepal’s ambassador to the US and one against Lok Darshan Regmi, former chief secretary of Nepal government, the ambassador designate to the UK.

The Parliamentary Hearing Committee had called for complaints, if any, on October 9, from general public against the ambassadorial nominees within 10 days.

“The complainants have to be informed through public announcement as their address and contact number are not clear. The notice will be published on Tuesday,” Laxman Lal Karna, chair of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee said. The committee has called a meeting on November 2 to discuss upon the complaints.

After holding a meeting with the complainants, the proposed ambassadors have to face the parliamentary hearing committee. During the hearing, the committee will seek clarifications on those issues apart from ascertaining other qualifications required of them. After the committee approves the Cabinet’s nominations, the President appoints them as ambassadors, on the recommendation of the government.
