Actions to be taken against 85 industries and firms
Kathmandu. The Nepal Bureau of Standards & Metrology (NBSM) has decided to take actions against 85 industries and business firms that have not been conducting their operations as per guidelines set by the law.
Under the Standard Measurement and Weight Act, 2025 (1968), the agency has taken action against 85 firms during the three months of the current fiscal year. The Director General at the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology, Bishwababu Pudasaini has stated that actions were taken against organizations that have been using weighing instruments without obtaining the required permit, and have not renewed the firms within the stipulated time.
In the three month period the Bureau has evaluated 690 firms, amongst which there were 151 grocery stores, 32 wholesalers, 60 industries, 53 fruit and vegetable shops, 38 fish and meat shops, 19 gas cylinder industries, 90 petrol pumps, 145 gold and silver shops and 103 other firms.
The Director General has commented that charges have been filed against five firms in the district court. The firms that have been charged are Gorakhkali Gas Center Dhungedhara, Matarani Trading Pvt. Ltd. Ghattekulo, New Tika Dairy Center Man Bhawan, Apollo Feeds Chitwan and Jagdamba Enterprises Parsa.
Under Section 25 of the Standard Measurement and Weight Act, 2025, the department has intensified the action against the firms which have not obtained permits to weigh or use the weighting instruments. RSS.
