Kathmandu. Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chair Pushpa kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ had visited Baluwatar on Saturday to show his resentment at the unilateral decisions of his fellow chair Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The prime minister, on the other hand, showed his vexation, accusing him of making meticulous plans to topple the government and. impeding the functioning of the government..

Prachanda had gone to Baluwatar,, ending their 11-day long silence at Oli’s invitation. When Prachanda alleged Oli of making sole decisions regarding the party and the government, which was against their previous agreement and the party norms, Oli replied that he had coordinated with Executive Chair Prachnda but the combined effort of Prachanda and Madhav Nepal had been deterring the two-thirds majority government from performing the desired tasks.

During their  meeting, while Prachanda blamed Oli for siding with Madhav Nepal, Oli responded saying that he was in favor of running the party and government coordinating with other leaders but it was Prachanda-Nepal’s yoking and repeated meetings against Oli that had been disturbing things.

Few months ago when Oli had accused India of trying to oust him from his post,  Prachanda and Madhav Nepal faction had asked for his resignation. The dispute ended only after a committee under party General Secretary Bishnu Paudel submitted a report satisfying both parties.

Prachanda had talked in length about the Karnali dispute to which Oli told Prachanda to note that members of the Madhav Nepal faction had signed the vote of no confidence first, and then sided with the chief minister later. Oli underscored that the Madhav Nepal faction was trying to create a rift between the two chairs.

Mention of the ordinance on party division

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had passed an ordinance related to party division to President Bidya Devi Bhandari for approval on April 20. It was criticized even by NCP leaders then and was dismissed by the president later as per the PM’s request. The NCP leaders alleged that Oli had tabled the ordinance to split his own party. The same ordinance has become the topic of discussion among the NCP leadership now.

As per the source, on Saturday’s meeting Prachanda had told that it would be difficult to continue together with Oli, dissenting on all activities. He told that a new line of thought has emerged within the party to end their union, issuing the ordinance easing party division again.

“Comrade Prachanda himself didn’t tell the prime minister directly to issue the ordinance to split the party,” the news source said. “He made an indirect reference at the voice being heard among the party leaders.”

Prachanda, however, made his point clear that it was high time they gave a thought to  parting ways as the present dissatisfactions and differences showed symptoms of irreconcilability. The source says Prime Minister Oli has made not commented on the topic of ordinance.
