Kathmandu. Kejin Rai, the President of the European branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, has been suspended for going against the federation’s constitution by leading a political organization. In a press release issued by the branch’s Secretary General Yogendra Milan Chhantyal and senior Vice-president Dilliram Ammai stated that the meeting held on Saturday decided to suspend Rai after collecting the signatures of the majority members.

Rai’s suspension came after he was elected as the Chairman of the Europe branch of the Nepal Communist Party. The suspension was executed on the proposal of the office bearers and members of the committee elected in the previous General Assembly of the Federation of Nepali Journalists while the Central Committee of the Federation of Nepali Journalists also approved of it.

The suspended had also been accused of making controversial decisions against the federation’s constitution and bringing in new people by unfair means to the working committee. The suspension statement called upon his act of controversial decision-making, unfair recruitment members without inviting membership as well as tainting the reputation of the federation in bad light.

He had also been accused of holding the branch meeting only once in a year and a half. After suspending Rai, the senior Vice-president Dilli Ammai has been given the responsibility of the acting-Chairperson of the branch.
