Kathmandu. Former King Gyanendra has challenged the government to investigate the assassination of his brother late King Birendra again. The whole family of the then King Birendra  had been wiped out in the gruesome massacre that took place in the Narayanhiti Palace on June 1, 200.

The name of Gyanendra, has always been associated with the murder though the investigations proved it to be the work of the then Crown Prince Dipendra.

Referring to the rumors and alleged claims, the former king has tweeted on the birthday of Birendra yesterday (Dec 29) stating that it was painful for him to be accused for the crime. He also added that the people’s chosen government had the full authority to probe into the case again.

His tweet seems to be a subtle challenge to the government to re-investigate the case of the royal family massacre of 2001, if the results of the earlier investigation had not been satisfactory, and expurgate him and his family from the defamation.
