Reasons for dissolution of Parliament presented before court

Kathmandu, January 3. The government has submitted a reply to the Supreme Court explaining the reasons for the dissolution of Parliament. On January 25, when hearing a written petition against the dissolution of Parliament, the Supreme Court issued a show cause notice.

This afternoon, responses were sent by the Office of the President and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, according to the order of the Supreme Court. The government has submitted the reply through the Attorney General’s Office.

Spokesperson of the Attorney General’s Office Sanjeev Raj Regmi informed that the responses were submitted to the Supreme Court after 3 pm. Along with the show cause order, the Supreme Court had ordered to present the original copy of the decision of dissolution.

The Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench will now proceed to hear all 11 written petitions submitted against the Parliament’s dissolution. From January 6, the Supreme Court shall be conducting continuous hearings. As per the order of the Supreme Court, a five-member amicus curiae has also been appointed.
