12 kids given sanitizer instead of polio drops in India
Kathmandu, February 2. Three health workers of India’s National Pulse Polio vaccination drive have given sanitizer drops instead of polio drops to 12 children under 5 years of age.
The incident of huge negligence had taken place on Polio National Immunisation Day(Sunday) at the primary healthcare centre in a village of Maharashtra state, 700-km from Mumbai.
The CEO of Yavatmal District Council, Shrikrishna Panchal informed that the 12 children aged up to 5 years, who were given sanitizer are currently under observation in the district’s Government Medical College. The conditions of the admitted children are stable. However, one of them has reported vomiting and uneasiness.
Panchal also said that the three health workers will be suspended for their blunder act. The parents are demanding actions against the workers.
