Kathmandu, February 3. Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of American e-commerce giant “Amazon” on Tuesday, decided to step down from his post and focus on philanthropic initiatives and other ventures.

The 57-year old billionaire wrote an official letter to his 1.3 million employees in which he mentioned that he will hand over the post of CEO to Andy Jassy, the current head of Amazon Web Services. “Andy has been at Amazon almost as long as I have. He will be an outstanding leader, and he has my full confidence.” wrote Bezos.

Bezos has been leading the empire since the last 27 years. He said that he will remain as the executive chairman of the company. He is not thinking of disconnecting himself from the company, but he is motivated to put his energy towards his other initiatives, including Day One Fund, Earth Fund, Washington Post and Blue Origin.

“Right now I see Amazon at its most inventive ever, making it an optimal time for this transition. I’ve never had more energy, and this isn’t about retiring. I’m super passionate about the impact I think these organizations can have” wrote Bezos.
