Kathmandu. February 4. While the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his faction of the Nepal Communist Party(NCP) are handling the reigns of power and exercising unnatural power of the state, the announcement of an emergency general strike by the Prachanda-Nepal led NCP has suddenly provoked conflict in the country.

Although the post of Prime Minister(PM) is itself a power, the universal theory of democracy believes that the PM always has the power of the public. But, in case of PM Oli, he wants to display this power of public on streets, even when the world is severely attacked by the pandemic.

With the aim of shooing the internal opposition(Prachanda-Nepal) group from the government and streets, the Oli group has called for a huge general assembly on Friday. In order to put a brake on Oli’s aim, the Prachanda-Nepal group immediately announced a general strike on Thursday.

The cadres who used to hold hands together are now splitted into two groups. Today, a group is busy demonstrating a general strike whereas the other group is transporting people for the Kathmandu-centric general assembly. A situation of confrontation between the cadres has arisen. But, what are these two steps for?

Both of the groups do not have a satisfactory answer. But, they never hesitate to appeal and justify their activities to the public. But, what do the people get from the general strike and the general assembly held during the pandemic?

The dissolution of the House of Representatives is definitely rooted into the battle for seats within the NCP party. Both of the factions haven’t taken these steps for the benefit of the people or for the future of the country and youth. The ongoing activities of the cadres have shown the extent to which these leaders like Oli and Prachanda can go to achieve their aspirations.

The global Covid-19 pandemic has devastated the country’s economy. With rising prices, the days are not far when people will have to sleep on an empty stomach. The lockdown has pushed the future of millions of students into darkness. Citing the lack of funds, the government is soliciting for donations to buy vaccines. And, the most dangerous thing is that Nepal is still at high risk of the viral infection.

But, the leaders don’t care about the current situation of the country. They are focussed on stoking fights between people to fulfil their personal desires. In order to end the conflict, the people through their votes gave leaders the responsibility to run the government for 5 years. But, the leaders have again forgotten their duties and have started instigating public fights on the streets.

Both of the factions of the ruling NCP party has not only insulted the public but also has played the role of “killer agents” to transmit the deadly coronavirus into people’s houses. The main opposition parties including Nepali Congress are also giving hand to these crimes.

A mass demonstration is considered natural in a democracy. But, in the current situation, it is totally unnatural. On top of that, the agitated chairman of the ruling NCP, Prachanda has recently threatened to launch a “non-veg” campaign.

In the country which has already seen sacrifices of thousands of lives in the name of peoples’ war, the public should themselves seek answers to how much the blood of the unarmed public must be contributed for the violent movement of Prachanda.

Since the establishment of democracy in Nepal, leaders have been constantly instigating fights between people. The people are also doomed to follow the leaders and fight among themselves. Once they reach the chairs, the leaders completely forget the suffering of the people as if they are the patients of “Short term memory loss”. This is the culmination of selfishness.

The leaders of the present have represented that the people will never get to see the light of happiness until and unless the leaders do not improve. The activities of both the factions have already crossed the limit and should be stopped immediately. It has become necessary to revolt against protests that hurt people. There is always a limit to endurance.
