Kathmandu valley eases lockdown limits, allowing businesses to operate more freely

Kathmandu, June 22. The administration in the Kathmandu Valley has eased the lockdown enforced for a long to contain the second wave of coronavirus. Odd-even number plates are managed for the private vehicles while days are fixed for opening shops.

A joint meeting of the chief district officers from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktpur issued the order in this regard.

Kathmandu Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli informed that prohibitory order was eased to make the commercial sector active. The recent decision/order is effective from today to June 28 at midnight. Light vehicles as car, jeep, and van are not allowed to carry more than four persons while taxi carries three.

The department stores (except grocery), shopping mall, sports shop, cloth and fancy shop, shops for tailoring, cosmetics, and gift are allowed for three days- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The shopkeepers of jewelry, pots and kitchen utensil, electric goods, auto parts, and automobile showrooms are allocated Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm to run the business.   

However, the hardware, sanitary goods, tile, marble, furniture, carpet can be sold every day from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The transportation of large delivery is allowed only during the night.

The medicine and health safety shops can be run daily as usual. The grocery, dairy, vegetable, and fruit shops, stationery, shops selling puja items are allowed till 11:00 am every day. 

The online and take away services can be operative till 7:00 pm in the valley. The automobile repair can be conducted till 7:00 pm. 

Marriage and tonsure ceremonies can be performed at home by maintaining health and safety measures and without exceeding 10 attendants. For this, no more than two vehicles are allowed. 

Essential service vehicles from hospitals, drinking water offices, health offices, cargo and couriers, garbage management are allowed to operate daily.

Schools are not still allowed to run classes physically. 

The transportation of vegetables, fruits, dairy products, poultry, poultry feed, fuel, gas, sanitary goods, printing, and agricultural inputs should be operated being mentioned in the banner. They are allowed from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm.

The people preparing to go abroad are allowed movement and entry to districts based on flight tickets, passports, and visa documents.

The banking and financial institutes, security boards, insurance, remittance, cooperative, NGO offices can be run with minimum human resources.
