Nepal pledges to resolve issues faced by migrant workers abroad

Kathmandu, December 17. Bal Krishna Khand, Nepal’s Home Minister, has promised to alleviate the challenges experienced by Nepali migrant workers in their destination nations.
Minister Khand said the government was committed to addressing the difficulties of migrant workers at a meeting with the Nepali Congress (NC) general convention representatives arriving from various countries and office bearers of the Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA).
The government was enthusiastic about resolving the citizenship issue for non-resident Nepalis (NRNs), allowing them to open bank accounts in US dollars, attracting foreign investment through NRNs, establishing an NRNA Dedicated Desk at Tribhuvan International Airport, and signing labour agreements with the governments of destination countries.
Minister Khand also asked Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey to work with the chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, and Kavre to find a land tract for a hospital from NRNs.
