Kathmandu, January 30. 92-year-old Indian playback singer Lata Mangeshkar has recovered from COVID-19 infection and has been discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Mangeshkar’s official spokesperson Anusha Iyer told reporters on Sunday that the legendary singer was taken to a ventilator unit on January 27. After three days of trial extubation, her health began to improve, and she was removed from ventilator support.

Minister Rajesh Tope who visited the hospital on Sunday, confirmed that Mangeshkar is now receiving just oxygen and that her health is not in danger. “Only oxygen is being given to her. She is responding to the treatment,” Tope noted.

On January 8, Lata Mangeshkar was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after being diagnosed with mild COVID-19 symptoms.

As the news created waves on the internet, last week, Anusha Iyer requested Mangeshkar’s fans to ignore the spread of rumours and appealed to people to “pray for Lata didi’s quick return home.”
