Kathmandu, April 17. The Immigration Office at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has asked international visitors to Nepal to pay their on-arrival visa fees in cash.

Office Manager  Prem Nath Thakur told reporters that frequent disruptions are caused by glitches in the online payment system. “Tourists visiting Nepal have to stay in queue for three to four hours to pay fees as the software sometimes was not in operation.” Thakur explained.

He also said that there is only one ATM machine at the TIA. “I urged the Chief of the Department of Immigration to make arrangements … a notice in this regard has been published ”. Thakur added.

As per the notice, each tourist entering Nepal on visitors visa has to pay USD 200 for the on-arrival visa.
