China increasing restrictions over rise in covid cases

Kathmandu, October 13. China has rapidly increased restrictions following the rise in covid cases. Authorities in big cities such as Shanghai and Shenzhen have been closing theaters, gyms and schools.

Further, Shanghai reported 47 new cases of covid on Wednesday, the highest since July, according to local reports. According to AFP, thousands of people have been affected as they were locked down on Monday because of a single case reported.

There were 1,406 new cases of covid nationwide on Tuesday, compared to 2,089 on Monday.

Moreover, local administration in Shanghai has announced mass testing of people twice a week until November 10. The authorities also have called for a three-day home quarantine and four day self monitoring for those with confirmed links with covid patients.

Further, restrictions have been imposed in cities including Tianjin, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Yongji city among others.
