Kathmandu, December 19. The Nepali government’s top priority project, the construction of the Nagdhunga Tunnel, is likely to miss the deadline of Mid August 2023.
Tunnel Project’s Deputy Director Madhav Prasad Adhikari informed reporters that nearly 30 percent of the construction work is still remaining.
“The total length of the main highway tunnel is 2,688 meters. So far, we have completed constructing 1,711 meters (832 meters from the eastern side and 878 meters from the western side),” Adhikari said.
Similarly, 1,948 meters of 2,557 meters long evacuation tunnel has been constructed.
“Six months seem to be insufficient to complete the project. We might require some additional months after the mid-August deadline,” Adhikari said.
