Gandaki, May 10: Five branch canals under the Begnas irrigation system are set to be repaired with a budget of Rs 6 million allocated by the federal government.

Chairman of the Main Consumer Committee of the Begnas Irrigation System, Raju Khatri, said the irrigation system currently provides irrigation facilities to around 1,600 hectares of farmland. He stated that although maintenance budgets are allocated annually, funds from the previous fiscal year are yet to be received.

Areas including Dhungepatan, Khudi, Tallo Gagangunda, Chuchi, Satmuhane, Malmul and Kimbensil benefit from irrigation through the canal network.
