Kathmandu Municipal Police Takes Action Against Officers for Mistreating Street Vendors

Kathmandu, July 11. The municipal police of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has taken action against the KMC police personnel who behaved rudely and inhumanely with the street vendors on Tuesday.

According to Chief of KMC Police, Rajunath Pandey, seven police personnel working on a contract basis have been removed from their jobs while five who are in permanent service have been suspended. They were punished for behaving rudely and inhumanely with street vendors at various times within the metropolitan city.

The Chief Pandey further added, “Though the police personnel were directed to not behave indecently, the city police who acted indecently and inhumanly without following the order and were found to have been at fault based on complaints from the public, were punished.”

“Departmental action has been taken against 12 city policepersons,” he noted. Additionally, a training is being organized in order to prevent the recurrence of such acts towards the street vendors.
