NC Leaders Emphasize Support for Republic, Urge Unity for Good Governance
Kathmandu, Nov 27: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba and party leader Dr. Shashanka Koirala have reinforced their commitment to the republican system of governance in Nepal. Speaking to the media at Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan, Deuba emphasized that there is no alternative to the current republican system, dismissing any notion of change.
Responding to queries about potential disturbances caused by ‘anti-republican activities,’ Deuba, also a former Prime Minister, asserted that there was no such disturbance among political parties. When asked about power-sharing dynamics in the current coalition government, he cryptically replied, “You will know for yourself.”
Similarly, NC leader Dr. Shashanka Koirala expressed skepticism about the reinstatement of the monarchy but acknowledged public dissatisfaction with the government’s performance. Calling for unity among political parties to safeguard the republican system, he stated, “The incumbent government did not seem to pay attention towards progress and development of the country.”
Dr. Koirala also highlighted concerns about the current federal structure, emphasizing the need for political parties to collaborate and address citizens’ doubts regarding the governance system. On a different note, he shared his frustration about the non-completion of the Narayangadh-Butwal road project, promising to raise the issue in parliament.
As political leaders advocate for unity and commitment to the republican system, their statements reflect the ongoing discourse surrounding governance and the need for collaboration to address the concerns of the citizens.
