Kathmandu, Jan 27: In response to the recent prohibition of vehicle parking on the black road in New Road, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City is set to provide free parking services at the newly constructed parking building in the Dharahara area. The services will be available to the general public starting from tomorrow, January 14th.

Motorists can take advantage of the complimentary parking service on the first floor of the parking building, constructed alongside the iconic Dharahara tower. This initiative aims to offer a convenient parking solution for the public following the ban on parking along the black road in New Road.

Senior Superintendent of Police Rajunath Pandey, head of the Metropolitan Police Force, stated, “Previously, free parking service was available at Kathmandu Tower (former bus park). In collaboration with stakeholders, we are now extending the service to the parking building in the Dharahara area starting tomorrow.”

The designated area for free parking covers an expansive 50,000 square feet. Access to the parking facility is available from Shaheed Gate, accessible via the road leading to Khichapokhri from Kathmandu Mall on the left.

This move comes after the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, in collaboration with partners and local clubs, provided free parking services during the period from the last Dasain festival to Chhath Parv. The new initiative at the Dharahara parking building aims to enhance accessibility and streamline parking for the convenience of the public.
