Crackdown on Expired Liquor in Myagdi’s Tiplyang: Tourism Office Takes Action

Myagdi, Mar 20: During a recent market monitoring operation conducted by the Tourism and Industry Office in Myagdi, a concerning discovery was made regarding expired liquor and beverages being sold in shops and hotels in Tiplyang.

Led by Poshanath Sharma, the head of the Tourism and Industry Office, the monitoring team uncovered expired drinks and alcohol valued at Rs 30,000 in 17 establishments. The expired items included beer, coke, fenta, bhuja, and furandana, some of which had expired a year ago.

Namaste Hotel had the most significant quantity of expired goods, raising serious concerns about food and beverage safety standards in the region. Santosh Dhungana, an official from the office, highlighted that this was the first instance of such violations and that immediate action was taken.

The office has promptly issued warnings to the businesses found with expired products, urging them to return the items to their suppliers. Further market monitoring is planned, and any future discoveries of expired goods will result in confiscation, destruction, and fines.

Tiplyang serves as a crucial commercial hub for tourists, pilgrims, and travelers heading to Mustang via Myagdi. Such findings underscore the importance of stringent quality control measures and regular inspections to safeguard public health and maintain ethical business practices.

The collaborative efforts involving local authorities, law enforcement, and media teams in these monitoring activities reflect a commitment to upholding regulatory standards and ensuring consumer protection within the hospitality and retail sectors.
