Kaski, Apr 13: The vibrant city of Pokhara, known as the tourist capital of Nepal, ushered in Nepali New Year 2081 with grand celebrations. At midnight on Friday, crowds gathered at the main tourist destination of Fewa Lake to bid farewell to the old year 2080 and embrace the new year.

Domestic and international tourists alike thronged the lakeside area to partake in the festivities, which included cultural performances and mesmerizing fireworks displays. The Hotel Association Pokhara organized a special New Year festival along the picturesque lakeside road, spanning three and a half kilometers, attracting visitors from far and wide.

Laxman Subedi, President of the Hotel Association Pokhara, expressed delight at the overwhelming response to the New Year celebrations. He noted the significant increase in both domestic and foreign tourists, drawn by the festive atmosphere and cultural offerings.

Subedi highlighted Pokhara’s growing reputation as the premier destination for New Year celebrations, with thousands of visitors exchanging joy and creating unforgettable memories. The influx of tourists has not only boosted tourism activity but also contributed to increased business opportunities in the city.

The New Year festival, meticulously organized to showcase the richness of Nepalese culture and cuisine, featured traditional food promotions, cultural performances, and lively concerts by renowned artists. Attendees were treated to a delightful array of cultural dances, comedy shows, and even a tourist race competition, making the Nepali New Year a truly festive occasion in Pokhara.
