Kathmandu, May 24: Spanish club Barcelona has dismissed coach Xavi Hernandez, effective immediately. The club released a statement on Friday announcing that Xavi will no longer serve as Barcelona’s head coach.

Xavi’s final match for Barcelona will be against Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday.

Earlier this year, in January, Xavi had announced his intention to leave Barcelona at the end of the season. This decision came when Barcelona were struggling in La Liga and had been eliminated from the Champions League.

However, following discussions with club president Joan Laporta and other senior officials, Xavi agreed a few weeks ago to stay on for one more season. Despite this, the management decided to terminate his contract after disagreements arose between Xavi and several Barcelona players.

Xavi, who took over as Barcelona’s coach on November 6, 2021, has overseen 141 matches, securing 88 wins, 24 draws, and 29 losses.

During his tenure, Xavi led Barcelona to victory in the 2022/23 La Liga and the 2022/23 Spanish Super Cup.
