UN Supreme Court Orders Israel to Halt Military Operations in Gaza Following South African Legal Challenge
Kathmandu, May 23: The Supreme Court of the United Nations has delivered a verdict in the case brought by South Africa against Israel, mandating that Israel cease its military operations in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
“Israel must immediately stop its military offensive in Rafah and any other actions that could cause physical destruction, in whole or in part, to the Palestinian group in Gaza,” the court declared in its order.
This ruling follows an urgent request filed by South Africa on May 10, seeking additional measures in a genocide case against Israel.
Additionally, a panel of judges from the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands, is currently reviewing a similar case and is expected to issue a ruling shortly.
