Police Inform Speaker About MP Ravi Lamichhane’s Arrest
Kathmandu, Oct 18: The police have officially informed Speaker Devraj Ghimire about the arrest of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA) chairman and Member of Parliament (MP) Ravi Lamichhane.
Chief Superintendent of Police, Shyambabu Olia, from the Kaski District Police Office, sent a letter to Speaker Ghimire on Friday. The letter stated, “Ravi Lamichhane, arrested in connection with a criminal investigation as per the Kaski District Court’s warrant issued on November 2, 2081, is a directly elected representative from Chitwan-2 for the National Independent Party.”
Lamichhane was taken into custody from the RASWPA party office in Banasthali, Kathmandu, following the court’s approval to investigate him on charges of fraud and organized crime under the Cooperative Act.
Police have announced that they will transport Lamichhane to Pokhara by road for further investigation.
