Chhath Festival Begins in Kathmandu Valley with Festive Preparations

Kathmandu, Nov 5: The Chhath festival has commenced in Kathmandu Valley, with major sites like Gaurighat, Thapathali, and Kamalpokhari now fully prepared for the four-day celebration.

The riverbanks and ponds across the valley have been decorated for the occasion. On the first day, devotees perform ritual bathing and prepare traditional dishes. The second day sees devotees cooking rice-based *khir* as an offering, while the third day involves bringing ceremonial items to the riverbanks for evening worship. The festival concludes on the fourth day with offerings to the rising sun.

Rajendra Singh, president of the Kamalpokhari Chhath Pooja Society, shared that 260 tents have been set up at Kamalpokhari, and preparations are ongoing to accommodate additional devotees.
