7th International Cancer Congress (ICC 2025) to be held in Janakpur
Kathmandu, Dec 15 : The 7th International Cancer Conference is scheduled to be held in Janakpur, Nepal, on March 21 and 22, 2025. Cancer experts from a number of countries will participate in the conference hosted by Binaytara Foundation (BTF).
The conference will be attended by cancer experts from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and the USA including oncology healthcare professionals and other stakeholders such as community leaders and policymakers. The conference director and the president of BTF, Dr. Binay Shah shared that the conference will cover new advances in cancer treatment, technology, and research along with experiences of doctors around the world.
According to Dr. Shah, the two-day conference will include a policy discussion. ‘We are preparing to hold a discussion on health insurance with politicians, policymakers and healthcare stakeholders. The discussion will be made available to the general public through the media and social media,’ said Dr. Shah.
The event will begin at 1:30 pm on March 21, 2025. The first day program will include lecture presentations and case discussion on head and neck cancer, oral abstract presentations by doctors and nurses, policy discussion, and will finish off with a cultural show.
The second day of the conference will resume at 8 am on March 22. Program sessions will cover breast cancer, lung cancer, GI oncology, supportive care, GI oncology, gynecological cancer, hematological malignancies and an abstract poster session.
Dr. Kapendra Shekhar Amatya, a surgical oncologist at Nepal Cancer Hospital, will chair the conference. Some of the renowned faculty speakers include Prof. Janak Koirala (Patan Hospital), Dr. Sudip Shrestha (Nepal Cancer Hospital), Dr. Mark Pegram (Stanford Healthcare, USA), Dr. Ying Liu (University of Washington, USA), Dr. Dinesh Chhetri (UCLA Health, USA), Dr. Maie St. John (UCLA Health, USA), Dr. Sanjay Kapoor (TATA Medical Center), Srinivas K. Tantravahi (Huntsman Cancer Institute, USA)
Additional confirmed faculty speakers include Dr. Biplav Yadav (USA), Dr. Prabhat Thakur (Nepal Cancer Hospital), Dr. Nora Ku (Rain Oncology, USA), Dr. Arun Shahi (Patan Hospital), Dr. Dhiresh Kumar Maharjan (Nepal), Dr. Ramesh Shrestha (BPKIHS), Dr. Sajin Rajbhandari (Primera Hospital), and Dr. Suzita Hirachan (Nepal Cancer Hospital).
The Binaytara Foundation is a charity organization registered in the United States. The foundation is working at various places in South Asia where there is low access to healthcare services.
The foundation is one of the largest Continuing Medical Education (CME/CE) providers in the USA conducting more than 30 CE programs annually. Binaytara Foundation recently launched an online gaming app, OncoBlast, which features CME-accredited courses for oncology and hematology healthcare professionals. OncoBlast provides an opportunity for the doctors to earn CME credit and study for board exams in a gamified platform to learn the latest in cancer treatment for free.
The foundation aims to build a 200-bed state-of-the-art Cancer hospital in Janakpurdham, Madhesh Province. Currently, it is operating a 25-bed hospital in Janakpur. The foundation has played a leadership role in establishing a bone marrow transplant center at the Civil Service Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal. The foundation supported the training of the Nepalese bone marrow transplant center team at the University of Illinois in Chicago (USA). BTF also collaborated with the government of Madhya Pradesh in India to establish palliative care treatment centers throughout the state.
