Sudurpaschim Royals Defeat Pokhara Avengers to Claim Top Spot in NPL

Kathmandu, Dec 15: Sudurpaschim Royals climbed to the top of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) table after securing a narrow five-run victory over Pokhara Avengers on Sunday at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground.

Chasing a target of 154 runs, Pokhara Avengers were bowled out for 148 runs in 19.4 overs. Andries Gauss top-scored with 36 runs, followed by Rayman Reifer’s 33 and Kiran Thagunna’s 32. Dinesh Kharel added 15, while Jane Malik contributed 10 runs.

Sudurpaschim’s Scott Kageelzin was the standout bowler, taking 5 wickets for just 18 runs in 3.4 overs. Harmeet Singh claimed 3 wickets, and Saif Zaib picked up 1 wicket.

Earlier, Sudurpaschim Royals posted 153/7 in their 20 overs. Arif Sheikh led the scoring with 42 runs, while Brandon McMullan and Deependra Singh Airi chipped in with 23 and 20 runs, respectively. Binod Bhandari (14), Harmeet Singh (13), and Ishan Pandey (10) also contributed.

For Pokhara, Kushal Bhurtel took 2 wickets, while Rayman Reifer, Sagar Dhakal, and Mitchell Leake claimed one wicket each.

With this win, Sudurpaschim Royals now sit at the top of the NPL points table.
