Kathmandu, Dec 26: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has announced the likelihood of snowfall and rain in many parts of Nepal from Friday evening due to a western low-pressure system.

In a special winter weather bulletin issued Thursday, the department predicted partial to generally cloudy skies across the country, with light to moderate snowfall anticipated in the high hilly and mountainous areas of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces. Similar conditions are expected in select areas of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces between Friday afternoon and Saturday.

The forecast also indicates light to moderate rainfall in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, some areas of Lumbini province, and isolated locations in Gandaki, Bagmati, Madhes, and Koshi provinces.

Additionally, the department warned of a possible temperature drop and an increase in cold weather due to the system’s impact. It urged citizens to take necessary precautions to minimize the adverse effects on daily life, health, mountaineering, and air transport.

The bulletin emphasized preparedness to mitigate disruptions from the expected weather changes.
