Janakpur Knights Secure Spot in Nepal Kabaddi League Final

Kathmandu, Jan 28: The Janakpur Knights have advanced to the final of the Nepal Kabaddi League after a close 34-32 victory over the Biratnagar Bandits in the first qualifier held at the National Sports Council (NSC) Covered Hall, Tripureshwor.

The defeat forces Biratnagar to play in the second qualifier against the winner of the eliminator match between Kathmandu Mavericks and Himalayan Raiders.

In the game, Janakpur demonstrated dominance in key areas, scoring 15 points from raids, 13 from tackles, four from two all-outs, and two bonus points. Biratnagar earned eight points from raids, 10 from tackles, two from a single all-out, and 12 from bonuses.

Janakpur established a commanding 11-point lead in the first half, excelling in raids and tackles, while Biratnagar struggled except for their six bonus points. The first-half score stood at 23-12.

In the second half, Biratnagar mounted an impressive comeback, narrowing the gap with strong performances in raids, tackles, and bonuses. However, Janakpur maintained their lead, capitalizing on critical moments despite a scoring drought in the last two minutes.

Janakpur added 11 points in the second half, while Biratnagar managed to outscore them by nine points. Despite this, Janakpur’s first-half dominance ensured their victory and a place in the final.

The second qualifier will decide which team joins Janakpur in the final as the competition nears its climax.
