Maoist Party to File Notice in Parliament Rejecting Ordinance
Kathmandu, Jan 30: The CPN (Maoist) has decided to formally reject the government’s ordinance by filing a notice in parliament. Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey announced the decision following a meeting of the UCPN (Maoist) Parliamentary Party on Thursday.
“We will issue a notice rejecting the ordinance and register it as per parliamentary rules,” Pandey stated, emphasizing that the government’s process of introducing the ordinance was flawed. He also criticized the government’s justification, saying claims of issuing the ordinance within a short delivery period were merely an attempt to mislead the public.
During the meeting, party members also discussed the proposed Social Networking Bill, particularly the provisions related to penalties. Pandey noted that since the bill is currently under review in the National Assembly, the party will decide its stance accordingly. He assured that the Maoists would take a firm position in parliament regarding both the ordinance and the bill.
