Prayagraj, Feb 15: More than 500 million devotees have participated in the Mahakumbh over the past 33 days, making it the largest recorded event in history, with 45 days still remaining.

Indian media reports highlight that the population gathered in Prayagraj now exceeds that of the United States and China combined. The scale of the Mahakumbh far surpasses events like Brazil’s Rio Carnival, which attracts around 2 million visitors daily, and Germany’s 16-day Oktoberfest, which hosts about 7 million attendees.

The administration anticipates even larger crowds over the upcoming weekend. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has held a meeting in Lucknow, directing senior officials to ensure smooth traffic flow and accountability at all levels. “There should be no traffic jams leading to Prayagraj Mahakumbh. Officials will be held accountable for any inconvenience caused to devotees,” he warned.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are expected to visit the Mahakumbh on February 17.
