Kathmandu, March 12: US President Donald Trump has temporarily suspended plans to impose a 50% tariff on Canadian steel, aluminum, and other metals. However, a 25% tariff on these imports will still take effect from March 12.

The decision follows Ontario’s move to halt a new 25% tariff on electricity exports to some US states, after Trump threatened to impose heavy tariffs on Canadian electricity supplies.

This development marks a critical moment in the ongoing US-Canada trade war, which has strained economic relations between the two countries. Canada remains the largest supplier of steel to the United States.
