Kathmandu, March 14: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has paid heartfelt tribute to renowned writer Lil Bahadur Chhetri, who passed away at the age of 93 in Guwahati, Assam.
Expressing his condolences through a Facebook post, PM Oli extended sympathy to Chhetri’s family, friends, and literature lovers.
PM Oli acknowledged Chhetri’s contribution to literature, especially his famous novel ‘Basain’, which reflects the pain of Nepali migration to Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, and Bhutan during World War II. He also praised Chhetri’s novel ‘Brahmaputrako Chheuchhau’, which won the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in India and highlighted the struggles of Nepalis in Northeast India.
