Kathmandu, March 24: US and Ukrainian officials held discussions in Saudi Arabia on Sunday regarding proposals to protect Ukraine’s power plants, with the US offering to take control of the facilities for Ukraine’s security.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the talks as “very useful” in a televised statement. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustam Umrov stated that the discussions aimed to enhance peace and security, with technical talks held on key issues.

Zelenskyy also urged Western allies, particularly the US, to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt attacks.

Meanwhile, US and Russian officials are scheduled to meet today to discuss the war in Ukraine, focusing on the safety of ships in the Black Sea. US Special Envoy Steve Wittkoff announced the meeting, following last week’s discussions between Donald Trump, Putin, and Zelenskyy, where Trump urged both sides to refrain from attacking energy plants.

However, due to a lack of clear agreements, attacks on energy facilities have continued.
