Kathmandu, April 8: The government has extended an invitation to the protesting teachers for formal talks in an effort to resolve the ongoing agitation. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has called on the Federation of Nepal Teachers to attend a meeting at the ministry on Wednesday.

In an official statement issued by Ministry Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Shiv Kumar Sapkota, the ministry urged the Federation to represent all agitating teachers in the dialogue. The statement also noted that the timing of the talks would be decided through mutual agreement.

The teachers have been protesting with demands that include the immediate passage of the School Education Bill, 2080, aimed at amending and consolidating existing laws. Although the ministry had previously invited the teachers for discussions on March 7, those talks did not materialize. The government now hopes to build common ground through renewed dialogue efforts.
