Birgunj , April 13: The curfew imposed in Birgunj from 7:30 PM on Saturday has been extended until 12 AM Sunday, following a review meeting of the local administration and stakeholders.

An all-party meeting held at the District Administration Office, Parsa, on Sunday decided to maintain the curfew until midnight to ensure peace and prevent further unrest. The meeting included representatives from political parties, civil society, local authorities, and security forces.

According to Administrative Officer Deepak Patel, the curfew extension comes in the wake of an incident on Saturday evening, which raised concerns over religious harmony. Authorities have urged the public not to spread provocative content or disrupt communal peace.

The District Administration Office also issued a public notice expressing concern over videos circulating on social media, asking people to act responsibly.

Meanwhile, District Police Office spokesperson DSP Kishore Lamsal informed that 40 individuals were detained for violating the curfew. Arrests were made across various locations between Sunday morning and noon.

DSP Lamsal said the situation is gradually returning to normal, and security personnel remain deployed in the curfew-enforced zones to maintain law and order.
