Nepal ordered 12 million doses of vaccine from India, agreement likely to be signed on 14 January

Kathmandu, January 11. Countries around the world had are under the fear of coronavirus. With the arrival of vaccines, countries around the world have sought the manufacturers and placed their orders to save the citizens of their respective countries.

Nepal has ordered 12 million doses of the vaccine, which is likely to be provided by India. India has decided to do so under their ‘neighborhood first’ policy. Nepal is also likely to sign a coronavirus pact on January 14 during Nepali Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali’s visit to India.

In India, two vaccines, namely Covishield and Covaxin, have been approved for emergency use. Covishield is a vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, whereas Covaxin is developed by Indian company Biotech in collaboration with Indian Institute of Medical Research (ISMR) and National Institute of Virology.

It is said that along with Nepal, India shall be supplying vaccines to Myanmar, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Afghanistan.
