Kathmandu January 13. Prime Minister of United Kingdom (UK) Boris Johnson has been asked to clarify upon his cycle ride, seven miles from his Downing Street residence.

It is said that PM Johnson was cycling for exercise. Parkgoers noticed Johnson cycling in Queen Elizabeth Olympic park in Stratford, London.

Downing street sources have said that PM Johnson had been following the health precautions while traveling. The source said, “The PM follows Covid-secure guidelines. It does not say in the regulations that driving somewhere to take exercise is a breach of the rules. That is not a comment on the PM’s case but the rules only say remain local.”

Official guidelines say that people should not travel outside their local area for exercise to control the spread of coronavirus. Health secretary Matt Hancock said, “It is OK to go if you went for a long walk and ended up seven miles from home, that is OK, but you should stay local. It is OK to go for a long walk or a cycle ride or to exercise but stay local.”

People have been criticizing Johnson and have said that rules must be equal for all; citizens are charged fines for violating rules.

PM Johnson on Monday had said that people should ‘do the right thing’ and adhere to social distancing in such perilous times.
