Quad Summit completed, Biden says that it went well
Kathmandu, March 15. The Quad Summit comprising of US, India, Australia and Japan was held recently. It was conducted virtually and attended by US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Modi, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.
US President Biden said, “It (Quad summit) went very well. Everyone seemed to like it a great deal.” Biden also elaborated that this summit was important for maximum co-operation in the Indo-Pacific. He also said that US aligns itself with the universal values and looking forward towards working together.
All the four states agreed upon the fact that there exists new challenges and collaborate on setting norms and standards that govern the future. They have also aimed to roll out a billion coronavirus vaccine doses by 2022 for exports to the Indo-Pacific region.
US seeks to reduce China’s influence in the region through Quad. China is highly contested in the case of South and East China seas, also making progress in exercising military over the man-made islands.
Quad was formed in 2017 to make the Indo-Pacific from free any influence.
