US Secretary of Defense visits India, meets PM Modi
Kathmandu, March 20. Lloyd Austin, US Secretary of Defense has visited India and met Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.
He has said that China is their pacing threat and US wants to shore their allies to deal with the threats.
According to Pentagon, Austin also met national security adviser Ajit Doval, and commended New Delhi’s “growing engagement with like-minded partners across the region to promote shared goals”.
US is seeking for co-operation and other exercises with maximum potential in the Indo-Pacific. India could prove to be a crucial partner to carry out all the activities.
India also sees US as a major investment partner and a major partner for co-operation in the western Indian Ocean.
Austin’s trip came at a point after the Quad summit, with other interests including those in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
