Peru’s president announces permanent departure of the entire council of ministers
Kathmandu, October 7. On Wednesday, the President of Peru, Pedro Castillo announced the resignation of prime minister Guido Bellido and his cabinet.
In his national television address, Castillo announced, “Today I inform the country that we have accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Guido Bellido Ugarte, whom we thank for his services rendered.”
On July 29, Bellido was appointed as the Prime minister of the country. Days later, his cabinet was heavily chastised over tax inquiries, inconsistencies, and conflicts among the chairs.
The political tension impelled the office of the presidency to announce the irreversible departure of the council of ministers. ‘Bellido’s resignation was to secure government tranquillity and cohesiveness,’ the president stated.
Under Peruvian legislation, the prime minister’s resignation immediately causes the resignation of the whole cabinet. A new cabinet will be formed by the president today.
