With 17 new cases on Sunday, India’s Omicron tally reaches 21

Kathmandu, December 6. On Sunday, 17 people in India were diagnosed with a COVID-19 infection caused by the new Omicron variant.
- Nine cases were detected in Rajasthan’s Jaipur.
- Seven cases were found in Maharashtra state
- One case was found in the capital city of Delhi
With this, the National tally for the Omicron variant has reached 21 cases.
Omicron in India
Last week, the first two cases were diagnosed in two patients in Karnataka. The state’s health ministry officials traced 527 contacts from the two patients.
Five of the contacts and a doctor who treated the first two patients tested positive for COVID-19. Two of them tested positive for Omicron during genome testing.
