Humla Police finds Intercaste Marriage “Groom” who was kidnapped and beaten by Bride’s family

Kathmandu, December 22. A team of Nepal Police have made contact with a young guy who was apparently kidnapped and beaten for marrying a woman from a different caste.
According to the District Police Office in Humla, a team of police was deployed after the police heard about the abduction of a Dalit boy on November 15. After a week of intense search, the personnel of the Kharpunath Police Post found the youth. The youth named Chandre Kami is currently in contact with Police.
19-year-old Chandra Kami belonged to Jaira village of Sarkegad Rural Municipality. He told the police that he eloped and married 19-year-old Suntali Malla on November 21. Nearly after a month of marriage, on the night of December 15, a group of about 20 people representing his wife’s family abducted Kami and started beating him.
The District Police Office have detained the girl and her father for interrogation. After interviewing the members of the girl’s family, the police will carry out further investigation.
