Nepali Congress urges PM for dialogue with Dr KC
Kathmandu. The main opposition Party Nepali Congress has appealed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to hold talks with Dr Govinda KC and end his indefinite hunger strike. Dr KC’s fasting has reached its 11th day on Wednesday.
Dr Govind KC, senior orthopedic surgeon, famous for his hunger strikes asking for reforms in the field of medical education is on his 19th indefinite hunger strike currently.
Nepali Congress spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has appealed to the prime minister regarding Dr KC through a press release.
Sharma accused the government of signing accords but not executing them. He inferred that it was the prime minister’s breaching the deal reached with Dr KC in July 2018, that has led to Dr KC’s current strike.
Dr KC was brought to Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu on Tuesday from Jumla, where he was holding his hunger strike. However, he had told that he would continue his protest in Kathmandu. His associates said that his health had deteriorated because of the fasting and his already frail health.
