Afghan students celebrate “reopening” of Public Universities
Kathmandu, February 1. The Taliban’s Education Ministry on Tuesday announced the reopening of all universities in the country.
As the news spread across the country, the students have been seen celebrating the decision as a festival. A local news channel quotes a student, “We are happy that such decisions have been made. All students have regained their hopes”.
According to the official announcement, all public colleges in the country’s warmer regions will resume classes and services on Wednesday (February 2). Similarly, universities in cooler climates will begin classes on February 26.
The acting minister of higher education, Abdul Baqi Haqqani told reports that the enrolling process for individuals who passed the university entrance exam would commence at this time
All Universities had remained closed since the Taliban took control of the country in August
