6.1 magnitude earthquake jolts Indonesia

Kathmandu, Febbruary 25. As a strong earthquake hit Indonesia, four people have been killed and injuring 20 others. The 6.1 magnitude earthquake hit West Sumatra in Indonesia on Friday.

More than 10,000 houses and buildings were damaged. According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the earthquake jolted at 8:39 a.m. Jakarta time (0139 GMT), with the epicenter at 17 km northeast of Pasaman Barat district and the shallow of 10 km under the earth.

The agency further said that the earthquake did not trigger a tsunami.
