US President Biden signs on bill declaring lynching as hate crime

Kathmandu, March 30. US President Joe Biden on Tuesday signed a bill making lynching a federal hate crime.
It is the first time in US history for such a bill to be signed. Biden revealed US lawmakers and leaders have been working since 100 years to pass such a bill.
Biden said, “The law is not just about the past. It’s about our present, and the future as well”.
Vice President Kamala Harris also assisted Biden in the event. She said that lynching is a “stain on the history of our nation”.
The US Senate passed the bill unanimously on March 7. It identifies lynching as a hate crime and punishments could last upto 30 years.
