Health Ministry to declare “two-day weekly break” for health workers

Kathmandu, May 6. The government of Nepal recently announced to introduce “weekly two-day holiday system” throughout the country from May 15.

With this announcement,  government offices throughout the country will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.

On Friday, the Ministry of Health and Population announced that it is planning to extend the new system to hospitals.

Ministry secretary Dr. Roshan Pokhrel told reporters that the non-emergency services including outpatient consultations will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.

He also said that the flow of patients is likely to be high during the two-day break, therefore the ministry is also discussing viable solutions for those who require healthcare services during public holidays.
